How do phone cards work?
Using a phone card is as simple as making a phone call. Each card has either a toll-free access number or a local access number, a PIN (personal identification number), and a toll-free customer service number.

What is a connection fee and how is it charged?
Each time you call your party and the call connects, a connection fee is deducted from the available minutes. The calling card technology assumes that you will make one call. Based on that one call the card's voice prompt gives you the number of minutes available for that call. If the call is not answered, you do not pay a connection fee. However, if the call goes to "Voicemail," your card will incur a connection fee. TIP: hang up after three rings and call back later.
Will I get the "rate per minute" rate on every call I make?
If you use a "connection fee" phonecard, the more times you use the card, the more connection fees you will incur, and that will raise your actual rate per minute. The minutes are given to you on the assumption that you will make one call with one connection fee. Whenever possible, avoid using phone calling cards with connection fees. TIP: $2, $3, and $5 phone cards with no connection fee are the best buys for cheap, quick calls.
When does a call connect?
All phonecard PINs are computer recorded. The actual call begins 30-45 seconds after the connection ring, NOT when there is an ANSWER. If you do not get an answer in the first 30-45 seconds after the first ring, hang-up and call again.
Am I going to be charged anything on my regular phone bill?
No. Phone cards work totally separate from your regular phone bill. You dial a toll-free # with a phone card to make a long distance call. It has nothing to do with the long distance service that you currently use with your home or business phone.
